The Antarctic Erotic Salmon is a 38 mm Swiss hand-wound watch with a salmon sunray brushed dial, a subtle metallic finish and applied indexes in a high-contrast layout. From the front it reads as a vintage-inspired Antarctic. Turn it over and wind the crown: through the sapphire caseback, a penguin animation comes to life, driven by the same winding motion that powers the movement.
The penguin belongs to Nivada Grenchen's own history. The emblem was registered as a patent in 1965 and engraved on the casebacks of Antarctic models inspired by mid-century polar expeditions. This animated version, conceived by Dr. Coldwater, redraws it from the original archival patent, and the salmon tone echoes the patina of original 1960s Antarctic watches. GQ, Hypebeast and Monochrome covered the collection at its launch.
Inside, a modified Soprod P054 hand-wound movement uses an integrated cam system to drive the animation. No battery, no electronics: stop winding and the scene stops. The 316L steel case alternates shiny and brushed surfaces, measures 12.45 mm thick and 45 mm lug to lug, and is water resistant to 10 ATM.
